Commonly Asked Questions About Business Credit Cards

What is a business credit card and how does it work?

A business credit card gives your company access to a revolving line of credit that can be used for everyday business expenses, purchases and managing short-term cash flow. Unlike a traditional business loan, you can repeatedly use the available credit as you repay your balance. The Capital on Tap Business Credit Card available through British Business Funding also allows you to track spending, issue employee cards and manage expenses online.

Who is eligible for a Business Credit Card?

These Business Credit Cards are available to eligible UK-registered limited companies, LLPs and PLCs. Applicants must be an active director or qualifying shareholder and live in the UK. Your business must also be active on Companies House and meet Capital on Tap’s credit and eligibility criteria. There is currently no minimum trading history required to apply.

How much can I borrow on a business credit card?

Eligible businesses can access a credit limit of up to £250,000 with the Capital on Tap Business Credit Card. The credit limit offered will depend on your business circumstances and the results of Capital on Tap’s assessment. You can also use Preloading to add your own funds to the card if you need to make purchases above your available credit limit.

Will applying for a business credit card affect my personal credit score?

Applying for the Capital on Tap Business Credit Card involves a soft search of your personal credit file, which does not affect your personal credit score. A hard search is carried out on your business credit file but only after you sign any given credit agreement.

Does the Capital on Tap Business Credit Card offer cashback or rewards?

Yes. The Capital on Tap Business Credit Card offers unlimited 1% cashback on card spending. Reward points can be redeemed for cash, used towards your card balance or gift cards, or converted into rewards including Avios and Virgin Points. The standard card also has no annual, foreign exchange or ATM fees, helping businesses earn rewards from their everyday spending.
